This is a description of the line item statuses in the Canopy system and what they mean in terms of how they control functionality.
Line item status | Final State? | Description |
---|---|---|
VALID | Yes | A valid line item status has already been applied fully to an account. An example would be a charge against an an account that has been both authorized and posted. |
INVALID | Yes | A line item can be updated to invalid to be disregarded in a customer’s account’s calculations for available balance, transaction history, etc. |
OFFSET | Yes | An offset line item is functionally equivalent to an invalid line item. |
PENDING | No | This status should be used for a line item transactions that have been initiated, but not yet processed for a customer’s account |
AUTHORIZED | No | This line item status is to specify a pending transaction for a charge line item transaction type |
DECLINED | Yes | A charge line item can be flagged as declined if there is insufficient balance in the account to cover the charge’s amount |
POSTED | — | Deprecated |
VOID | Yes | A transaction can be flagged as void if it is cancelled by the merchant. Typically this is done by the issuer processor automatically. |
REVERSED | — | Deprecated |
RETRO_VALID | Yes | A parent-level retroactive line item. It will have multiple child offsets with status VALID |
